【Diary in English 】No gasoline cars after 2035

Recent changes

Nowadays, climate changes are our common issues. Recently years, we experienced unprecedented natural hazards in Japan. Obviously, the strength of typhoon became stronger and there were terrible aftereffects which I didn’t see when I was a kid. When I went to Europe on May last year, it was really hot and I heard the temperature was more than 40 deg. C in Bordeaux, France. For this year, there was a huge wildfire in the Bay Area in the US. We really have to change our mindsets.

Clear goal

California to ban sale of new gasoline-powered passenger vehicles starting 2035 (SEPTEMBER 24, 2020)

In this article, California plans to ban the sale of new gasoline powered passenger cars and trucks starting in 2035. It is about 15 years later. When we see the recent changes of natural hazards, it is really difficult to say if it is too later or not. However, I really respect them to set the clear goal to solve the environmental problem. On the other hand, A group representing major automakers is skeptical about this movement. They don’t believe the ban won’t build successful markets. I can imagine that it is not easy to shift their current businesses to the totally new technologies. It’s been a really long history and technical achievements for gasoline-powered cars. However, if we don’t change anything, it will be too late to stop the destruction of nature. We all know that humans don’t have a power or a technique to change nature at once.

Our will

Actually, the fact is each of us have to change our way of thinking. Current common sense won’t work decades later. It may be too late. It should be after 10 years later or a few years later. To do so, what the important thing is our action. You go somewhere by bike instead of your car? You didn’t use paper or plastic bags? You won’t use a gasoline powered car? Our small actions will change both the future and various markets.

“One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” – Neil Armstrong.

I believe we can walk in the right way together.
